What do you enjoy about working at heights?
So many things! 🙂 The variety, the freedom, the movement, the people, the height itself and the views just to name a few.

How did you start with work at heights?
I'd been climbing on rocks since I was a kid, and my dad used to do work at heights too, so it came quite naturally through friends. I think it started with some painting jobs and pigeon deterrent installations in Prague, somewhere around the end of secondary school.
But I actually remember the very first time I was up on a roof as a child, when my dad was doing the roof of the nursery I attended. He took me up with him and the other kids saw me from below. It was incredibly cool!! 😎

What is your favourite workplace (or favourite type of work)?
I don't really have a favourite place, but if I get to choose, it's definitely somewhere away from people and cities less risk of dropping something on someone! The work, definitely, but as varied as possible.

Other interests?
Right now my main interests are our newborn and a house that's in the middle of renovation. Before that, when free time still existed, my wife and I used to do a bit of climbing. 😉 I'm already looking forward to when things calm down a bit and we can go out with the little one too.

The most impressive working experience?
I don't have one single specific memory, but working for the first time with the northern lights above my head was something else, and flying by helicopter to a remote wilderness site was quite an experience too. Working during COVID above an empty Old Town Square in Prague was also pretty surreal.

Plans for the future?
Wind turbines have always appealed to me, and now that Singing Rock is also running GWO training, it keeps coming back to my mind. But with a baby at home, I'd like to be around more for now and focus more on arboriculture.

Work at heights in 100 years?
Hard to say. I don't want to be too negative about what the whole planet will look like in 100 years. But given that I also enjoy flying drones, I'm waiting for the day when some jobs can be done from the ground with just a remote controller in hand.
