BLAST - a professional helmet that fits like a glove
Singing Rock has launched a new comfortable and lightweight helmet for working at heights, the BLAST. We interviewed the "father" of this helmet, Ales Stekly, who is a product developer with a focus on helmets.

At first glance, the helmet impresses with its nice design, wide range of colours and ventilation. So what kind of work at heights is this helmet designed for?
The helmet is designed and suitable for all work at heights, except where there is a risk of electric shock. It can therefore be used both by a workers at height when cleaning a multi-story building and by a Mountain Rescue Service when evacuating a cable car.
What materials is the helmet made of and what is the advantage for the user?
The construction of the helmet combines two main materials. The hard outer shell is made of ABS plastic and overlays a foam EPS core, which can absorb energy very effectively and protect the user from the impact shock. This construction is similar to that of sports helmets and therefore the new user can feel comfortable in it from the first moment.
Comparing it to the FLASH safety helmet, how is the BLAST helmet different?
The Blast is lighter than the Flash and fits more like a sports helmet. This means that for some users, the Blast is more comfortable when working for the long-term.

According to the product description, the helmet is EN 397 certified. Does the BLAST meet any other additional, optional tests?
It does not. This was not a focus in the development of this helmet.
We noticed the double slots on the helmet's rim, for the ear and eye protectors. So I can attach any hearing protection and visor to the helmet?
It is possible to attach any hearing protection that fits into the universal 30mm slot. The smaller slot in the front of the helmet is used to attach the Singing Rock Cover protective shield. Compared to the older Flash, the shield can simply be snapped into this slot and the whole assembly-dismantling process is a matter of moments.

And a final question, what is your favourite helmet colour for working at heights?
Definitely reflective yellow, I like to be seen when working in a team.
Thanks for the interview Aleš.
So that was a brief introduction of the new BLAST helmet. What do you think? We look forward to your comments and reviews.
