What do you like about climbing?
Pushing my limits. Climbing movement. Training and life on the rocks.

How did you get started climbing?
I was born into a climbing family, so we spent all our free time at the crags. It was naturally that I started climbing too.

Other interests?
Fishing and playing the guitar.

Favourite climbing area?
I grew up on the crags in Slovakia, so I probably like Krpcovo the most, but I also enjoy climbing in Frankenjura and Arco.

The best achievements?
Morpheus 8c (Austria – Nassereith).

Biggest climbing experience?
Climbing the route Morpheus 8c in Nassereith, Austria. It really pushed me, because I spent two trips working on it. The hardest crux is a dynamic move from a small undercling where you have to hit the edge precisely and keep your feet under control.

Plans for the future?
To keep improving and train more. My goal for this season is an 8c+ route, and soon after that, 9a.

Climbing in 100 years?
I think people will climb more on artificial walls, and climbing on real rock will remain mainly for true enthusiasts.

More about me:
I’m the brother of Pepa Šindel, who is also my climbing partner. We train and climb together.

I’m just starting my Instagram profile, but there are already a few solid pieces to check out… including an 8‑meter ground fall when a bolt cracked:) @venca.sindel
