43rd International Mountaineering Film Festival in Teplice nad Metují
Four days. One little town surrounded by sandstone towers. And thousands of people who simply can't sit at home when the end of August comes around. From 27 – 30 August 2026, Teplice nad Metují will once again turn into the capital of the climbing community for the 43rd time, and SINGING ROCK will be there as a long-standing partner.
For those who haven't experienced the Festival yet: MHFF is a competitive showcase of professional and amateur films from around the world with a mountaineering and outdoor theme, tied together with a rich accompanying programme – talks, concerts, sales stands and climbing events right in the park and on the main square. You'll find the full programme on the festival's website.
What we've got ready for you in the SINGING ROCK zone in the park and at the stand in the square:
Singing Rock CRACK – our mobile crack-climbing simulator with adjustable crack width, again joined this year by the "multi-crack" from ObrWorks. On Friday it will host the CRACK competition – speed climbing on top rope, with qualification (one attempt each) followed by an exciting final in duel format. (Crack gloves and harnesses from Singing Rock, plus Saltic climbing shoes, will be available to borrow.) Right after the competition, from 15:30, comes the traditional crack-climbing workshop (ObrWorks.cz), where — as every year — the most experienced crack climbers pass on their tips and tricks for efficient crack technique.
Singing Rock DRYTOOL – our training board for ice-axe climbing, which on Saturday afternoon from 13:00 will host the DRYTOOL competition. Whoever climbs back and forth across it the most times with ice axes within the time limit wins. (Climbing will be done with Bandit ice axes fitted with dry-tooling picks; a helmet is compulsory for competitors, gloves are optional.)
For the competition winners we've prepared vouchers and prizes worth a total of 12,000 CZK this year. Will you come and measure yourself against the others and show off your training?
Autograph session & selfies with the Singing Rock climbers – Saturday from 14:30 in the park. Signing autographs and posing for photos will be František D'Agostino, Honza "Tráva" Trávníček, Martin and Štěpán Stráník, and Pepa and Venca Šindel.
SINGING ROCK OUTLET – our sales stand on the main square, climbing gear at great "festival" prices, Thursday to Saturday 9:00–18:00, Sunday 9:00–13:00. The ideal chance to upgrade or top up your climbing equipment at a bargain.
