Eliška Novotná
Name: Eliška Novotná
Nickname: Elík
Climbing since: childhood, I started when I was about 5 years old
Country: Czech Republic
What do you like about climbing?
In general, I really enjoy seeking out and pushing my own limits. And I love the time spent with great people who are part of the climbing world.
How did you get started climbing?
We lived with my parents close to a (now defunct) climbing wall at Dlouhé Mosty. One day a friend of ours took us there, and I enjoyed it so much that my parents signed me up for a club.
Other interests?
Coaching kids, cross-country skiing, studying genetics, and now I've recently started learning the ukulele 🙂
Favorite climbing area?
Definitely Labák (the Elbe Sandstone)!
The best achievement?
Wow, probably sending Šílený tanec (XIa) and flashing 8a+ in Chulilla, Spain,
and as for my prehistoric competition career, 2nd place at the EYC in France.
Best climbing experience?
Generally my best experiences come from multi-pitch routes, but the absolute top one was a team ascent of the multi-pitch Asproman (8a+) with Léňa Slezáková.
Plans for the future?
Push my limits in climbing (both physically and mentally) and climb as much as possible.
Climbing in 100 years?
With how many people climb nowadays, limestone routes will basically be one giant slide :D But I hope at least part of the climbing community will still be as great as it is today.
